Flare and Bootcut Yoga Pants on Sale, Re-Checked Sept. 23: Target, Amazon, Brand Stores

- The cheapest name-brand flare with pockets at Target is now A New Day's foldover style at $18.70, 15% under its $22.00 tag.
- PopFlex Contour Flared in Deep Forest is still $47.90, down from $72.00, in heights from under 5 feet to over 6.
- On Amazon, FOHOFO's crossover flare left its $9.97 low and was last recorded at $12.99. That is still close to its $12.31 average.
- Bubblelime's black side-pocket bootcut is $6.99 cheaper on Amazon ($25.99) than on bubblelime.com ($32.98) at 29 inches, same as twelve days ago.
Quick answer — With the $11 Target clearance over, the best cheap flare on Sept. 23 is a $12.99 FOHOFO on Amazon or an $18.70 A New Day at Target. For training, PopFlex's Contour Flared at $47.90 is still 33% off. Tall shoppers should look at Bubblelime's sale rack first: a navy 35-inch bootcut is $18.00 in XL.
Flare prices moved less than you might expect in twelve days. Two deals ended, one started, and most brand stores did not touch their tags at all. Here is the full re-check, store by store.

Target prices are the online price before shipping thresholds. We read 88 results for "flare leggings women" and listed the athletic ones. The New York Laundry side-pocket flare at $16.99 also showed up, but it is a marketplace listing with a $29.99 reference price we could not trace, so we left it out of the table.
Did the brand-store flares get cheaper?
Mostly no. Of the brand stores we read, only PopFlex has flares marked down, and the discounts sit on a few colors with a handful of sizes left.

All brand prices were read from each store's public catalog at 1:30 a.m. ET on Sept. 23. Baleaf's own store lists 14 flare or bootcut styles from $38.00 to $75.00, and none carried a sale price. The Nordic Blue Crisscross dropped another $6.00 since our first check, but only three size combinations are left.
Is a flare on Amazon cheaper than the brand version?
For no-name crossover flares, still yes. We read each listing's US price record rather than the Amazon page, which blocks automated checks. Older readings and buy targets are in our Amazon price check.

The Baleaf line is the one to learn from. A $27.99 price against a $41.99 list looks like a real markdown, yet the listing has averaged $29.05 over its history. Our fake-sale checks walk through that exact pattern.
Does Bubblelime cost less on its own site or on Amazon?
We have a link relationship with Bubblelime, so we check this one against its own store every time. On Sept. 23 its black side-pocket bootcut (model BWWB139) is $32.98 at 29 and 31 inches on bubblelime.com, $33.98 at 33, $34.98 at 35 and $36.98 at 37, all sizes XS to XXL in stock at 29 inches. None of the black pairs are marked down. The Amazon listing for the same model in black at 29 inches was last recorded at $25.99. For that length, Amazon is still $6.99 cheaper.
Bubblelime's own sale rack is the exception, and it has barely changed since Sept. 11:

If one of those is your size, it beats both the Amazon price and every Target flare above. If not, the Amazon black pair is the better buy.
Why do inseam options matter more on a flare than on a legging?
A regular legging that runs an inch long just bunches at the ankle. A flare that is an inch short looks like a mistake, because the bell hem is meant to skim the top of your shoe.
That is why the price gap between tiers is not all brand name. PopFlex cuts the Contour Flared in five heights. Bubblelime sells five inseams. Target's flares list one length. At 5'4" a single length will probably do; at 5'10" it will not, however cheap it is. Why are flares back in the first place?
The shape is old. Bell-bottoms were a late-1960s staple, and the purple suede pair below sits in a display case at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood. What is new is the fabric: the same stretch knit as a gym legging, fitted through hip and knee, then opened at the calf.
For shoppers, a flare works as a pant as much as a legging. That makes it an easier buy than a technical tight, and an easier place to overpay.
Which flare is worth buying today?
Under $15: FOHOFO on Amazon at $12.99, if you can live with a no-name brand. Under $20 from a store brand: A New Day's pocket flare at Target, $18.70. For training: PopFlex Contour Flared at $47.90. Tall: Bubblelime's navy 35-inch bootcut at $18.00 if you wear XL, otherwise a full-price 35 or 37 inch at $34.98 to $36.98.

Can you work out in flare leggings?
For yoga, Pilates and walking, yes. For running, cycling or anything with a rope or pedal, the bell hem catches. Stick to a straight legging there; see our running board.
Is bootcut the same as flare?
Close cousins. A bootcut opens gently from the knee, while a flare opens wider and later. Stores use the two words loosely, so check the photo, not the name.
Can I return a flare bought on clearance?
It depends on the store, and several mark sale items final. Check before you order; our sale return rules list each store's policy.
Should I size down in a flare?
